Columbia Alumni Arts Reception June '26

We are thrilled to invite you to a special afternoon at the No Walls Between Us Art Exhibition featuring Columbia SIPA alumna - Bukekile Dube, Founder of Indibano Art Residency.The afternoon will include a panel discussion, an exclusive guided art tour, and networking with fellow attendees.
Schedule of Events:
3:00 – 3:30 PM: Arrival 
3:30 – 4:30 PM: Panel discussion featuring Bukekile Dube , artists -  Reuben Cheatem,  Ebony Lewis and Andrea Tosten and art veteran Cathryn McClellan
4:30 – 5:00 PM: Guided gallery tour
5:00 – 6:00 PM: Networking

Artists
Reuben Cheatem is a visual artist from Des Moines, Iowa, based in Dallas, Texas. He obtained his B.F.A. in painting from the University of Kansas in 2003 and has been working professionally as an artist for nearly 20 years. His art, mostly figurative, is recognized for bright, vibrant colors and photographic detail. In the fall of 2022, Reuben was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and spent the next year in treatment and recovery. He carries on today, healed and thriving!
Ebony Lewis is a Multi-Disciplinary artist with an emphasis in painting. Ebony was born in Greenville, Mississippi, and raised in Texas. Ebony brings a rich blend of artistic talent and community commitment. Holding a BFA in painting from Texas A&M Commerce University and an M.Ed., Ebony seamlessly merges her passion for the arts with a dedication to education and community.
Andrea Tosten is a Dallas-based visual artist and cultural worker. She has a Bachelor of Science in BioMedical Science from Texas A&M University and a Master of Liberal Arts in Museum Studies from the University of Oklahoma. She has exhibited in Texas, including group shows Going Through a Phase in 2020 at the Galveston Arts Center and Modern Billings in 2022, and solo exhibitions at Cluley Projects in 2021 and the South Dallas Cultural Center in 2023. She is currently the Cultural Programs Coordinator at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center.
Artist Talk Moderator
Cathryn McClellan is a dedicated professional who forges genuine connections between brands and diverse communities. Committed to fostering equality and inclusivity for all, she has been actively involved with numerous nonprofit organizations, including the Dallas Regional Chamber, Communities Foundation of Texas, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Cathryn currently works at American Express, spearheading strategy for external diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Beyond her professional endeavors, she passionately engages in community work, serving as the chair of the Business Council for the Arts Leadership Arts Alumni and lending her leadership to the Junior League of Dallas Women LEAD Scholarship committee and the HERitage Giving Fund. Cathryn is also a co-founder of Black Arts DFW, a community supporting Black arts across North Texas. Recognized for her outstanding leadership, she received the 2021 BCA Obelisk Award and was honored as a Black Women Give Back recipient in 2022. Cathryn enjoys reading on her couch alongside her four canine companions in her leisure time or exploring the vibrant art scene in the DFW.
Bukekile Dube is a Dallas-based curator, entrepreneur, and cultural producer whose work sits at the intersection of contemporary African art and global exchange. She is the Founder and Director of Indibano Art Residency, a platform that facilitates reciprocal residency programs among artists from Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Texas, rooted in the Ubuntu philosophy of shared humanity. A graduate of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, Dube brings two decades of experience in finance and a parallel career as a serial entrepreneur in healthcare — fluencies she channels into building sustainable, community-centered cultural institutions. As a curator, she champions diasporic voices and cross-continental dialogue, challenging dominant Western art narratives and centering African artistic excellence on an international stage. She serves on the boards of Impact City Dallas, Miles of Freedom, and Friends of Darryl Ratcliff, and has been a vital force in Dallas’s contemporary arts community.
